10 Minutes & 4 Ingredients Is All You Need To Make These Delicious Energy Snacks
There are so many of these energy/power ball recipes around full of wholesome ingredients and good protein, which is great news for most of us looking for healthy, nutritious, high protein snacks. However many of them are unsuitable for school lunch boxes because they contain nuts.
This can be a bit frustrating when you want to add variety and good nutrition to the kids diet but the core ingredient is banned at your school!
These snacks could be the answer – they use seeds instead of nuts. Tahini and sunflower seeds replace the need for nuts and reduce the allergenic risk for those that may come into contact with them.
Tahini is a paste made from hulled or unhulled sesame seeds. The unhulled variety is darker and has a richer flavour which may not suit all recipes, however it is richer in nutrients. Buy hulled if you want a lighter colour and flavour.
Tahini is an extremely nutrient-rich food, with high levels of Vitamin E, and several B Vitamins. It is rich in the minerals magnesium, potassium, iron, and phosphorus, and is one of the best dietary sources of calcium. It is also rich in healthy Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids and contains more protein than most nuts. So you are not missing out by leaving out the nuts in this recipe!
And with only 4 ingredients and a blender required, you can whip these up in 10 minutes flat!
